Finally made it to Stonehenge for the Summer Solstice. Arriving before the gates opened at 7 pm the evening before, there was a real sense of excitement and anticipation in the air. A beautiful sunset, a constant stream of people arriving, and drumming and dancing throughout the night. Then came this incredible sunrise. A totally still morning with seas of mist on the lower fields. It felt like sharing a timeless, human experience with thousands of others at one of the world’s most iconic historic sites. Well done, #EnglishHeritage and its friendly team who helped make it such a memorable occasion for tens of thousands of visitors.
