Working as a freelance video editor, and BBC trained, I am a well-established independent freelancer editing short-form videos, films, documentaries, music-based projects, trailers and a wide range of promotional content. During more than 15 years of production and video editing experience, I have edited hundreds of hours of broadcast-standard programme content for a large variety of projects, including for BBC network television, films for the film festival circuit and a creatively diverse selection of short films and videos for online clients.

Efficient video editing services
One of my key strengths, as an experienced freelance video editor, is my ability to work very efficiently to benefit my clients. I am highly skilled and practised at editing sound and vision, together with any additional supplied elements, in a highly creative manner to any brief provided.
Assets for video editing
Other assets supplied for an edit can include animations, graphics, music, stock footage, sound effects, textual elements, end-board credit details and language translations if required. By editing together the essential film and audio media and adding any combination of other media, I can deliver any film or video project to meet the required brief and technical standards for my clients.
Video editing skills
There are many editing skills at which I am adept. These include media and file management; adding texts and subtitles in various languages; broadcast standard sound mixing; colour correction, and visual effects. In addition, I am highly skilled at constructing a narrative in the edit even when a project has not been fully pre-produced, storyboarded or shot listed. This extensive editing experience enables me to quickly create a visually engaging and high-quality film or video that utilises the best of any supplied media.
Video editor freelance
In addition to working with my clients, I work with freelance directors and producers, to deliver their programmes, films and videos. I also offer a range of additional freelance video editor services. These extra services include providing technical support for individual clients; working for film productions on location as a freelance data wrangler; managing post-production Avid conforms; undertaking media file encoding, quality assessments and checks.
Online video editor
The fastest ultra-fast full-fibre 1Gb/s broadband speeds are available to my video editing workstation. This quick connection enables me to provide clients worldwide with my video editing and post-production skills, editing online remotely as required. Full-fibre 1Gb/s broadband also allows me to download and upload large amounts of media, including RAW camera files, very quickly when projects require it.
Protected video media
Working as a freelance video editor in London, I utilise the latest version of Avid Media Composer. I have a Mac-based workstation connected to over 80TB of media storage space that includes several large capacity Pegasus RAID 5 drives. Each of my RAID 5 drives gets mirrored on a separate hard drive providing enhanced project security and media safety. A UPS (uninterruptible power supply) adds additional protection to my whole workstation and media drives set-up in the event of a mains supply power failure.
BBC trained video editor
My professional post-production career began in 1996 when I joined the BBC. I learnt to operate a wide range of broadcast standard post-production equipment and assess and appraise programme material to meet BBC technical and editorial guidelines. I developed my experience as an Avid video editor when non-linear post-production editing first started to be used by BBC Post-Production in 1998. Since that time, I have continued to edit on Avid Media composer.
Video editing experience
During my time editing for the BBC, I worked across many different genres that included children’s programming, light entertainment and network presentation responsible for promoting programme content across all BBC channels. My BBC experience of longer-form projects included editing ‘recorded as live’ multi-camera performances through to editing many single-camera 25-minute programmes. I also have experience in editing 50-minute duration programming.
Freelance video editor
I was previously a promotional trailer video editor for the BBC and am an expert at editing short 10-second to 60-second fast cut promotional trailers. My freelance experience of short-form projects has included filming and editing charity documentaries, music-based videos and a wide range of promotional films.
