Freelance data wrangler
As a freelance data wrangler and digital media manager, I safely and efficiently manage, transcode and copy digital camera files. Based in central London, I have over 15 years of experience working with digital file-based camera media.
Camera systems
I have managed the digital media for projects that have used cameras made by Arri, Canon, Panasonic, Red, and Sony.
My knowledge and skills as a data wrangler continue to develop across a broad professional field.
Post-production skills
Through my BBC training and many years of experience working in busy broadcast post-production environments, I gained wide-ranging skills in safely backing up and moving large quantities of digital media.
I've previously managed all the high-resolution media and related project assets for 28 Avid edit suits connected to the same shared media system.
As a skilled video editor, I have a thorough understanding of file-based digital media, digital image manipulation, and broadcast-standard post-production workflows.
Digital media experience
I have worked with digital media files since 1995, when the BBC adopted Non-linear editing.
My experience managing file-based camera media workflows began with the Panasonic P2 format. The BBC and freelance broadcast camera crews started using file-based media in 2004.
I have worked with digital media files since the old Avid non-linear systems in the late 1990s.
Additional software
I use software applications to support a wide range of professional cameras and media, allowing two copies to be made simultaneously. My media-managing software also accurately checks each file transfer with a checksum and notifies you should any problems arise.
Data wrangler on location
As well as managing media for my client's projects, I also work freelance supporting film productions on-location. Here is an example of a short film I worked on as a data wrangler.
