Freelance data wrangler
As a freelance data wrangler, I safely and efficiently manage, transcode and copy camera files. Based in central London I have over 15 years experience of working with file-based camera media.
I have managed the digital media for projects that have used a wide range of cameras made by Arri, Canon, Panasonic, Red and Sony. Recent projects that I have worked on have included cameras filming images with UHD raster sizes of up to 5K recorded onto Redmag (SSD) cards. My knowledge as a data wrangler continues to develop across a wide professional field.
Data wrangler on location
As well as managing media for my client's projects I also work freelance supporting film productions on-location. Here is an example of a short form film that I worked on as a data wrangler.
Through the experience of many years of working within busy broadcast post-production environments, I gained wide-ranging skills in safely managing large quantities of digital media. This included managing the online media for 28 edit suite based Avid Unity shared media system. As a skilled video editor, I have a thorough understanding of file-based digital media, digital image manipulation and post-production workflows.
Digital media experience
I have been working with digital media files since 1995 when Non-linear editing was adopted by the BBC. My experience of managing file-based camera media workflows began with the Panasonic P2 format. The BBC and freelance broadcast camera crews started using file-based media in 2004. I have been working with digital media files since the early Avid non-linear systems in the late 1990's.
My software applications include Double Data which supports a wide range of professional cameras and media whilst allowing for two copies to be backed up simultaneously. It also accurately checks each file transfer with a checksum and notifies you should any problems arise. To spot-check RED media, I have also installed Redcine-X Professional.
