Videographer filming interviews
Working as a professional videographer, I specialise in filming interviews. I also can then edit the footage into concise short films and videos. In this case study, I give a brief overview of one fast-turnaround project.
Filming commission
I filmed this interview with Chairman of John Lewis, Charlie Mayfield Chairman at UKCES & John Lewis Partnership, at the John Lewis Head Office in Victoria, London. Upon arrival, I was briefed that I would only have 30 minutes of filming time with Charlie. A suitable quiet filming location was provided, so I quickly set up my filming gear. The camera framing, lighting and microphones were all set up as best as possible. Once Charlie arrived, I just made a few detail adjustments to enable the best quality recording. After a few different takes of the same questions, the time-code of the best take was agreed and noted.
Video editing
After filming in Victoria, Central London I took the filmed footage the short distance back to my Vauxhall base. I then edited the footage adding the prepared UKCES titles that had already been sent to me ahead of the filming. Once I was happy with the edit, I exported the film as a low-resolution file for upload and sent it to my client for approval. After sign-off by the client, I encoded a high-resolution version. The final .mp4 version was uploaded to the UKCES YouTube channel. The online video, which was filmed late afternoon, was edited, uploaded and ready to distribute and promote online the very next day.
Video content
In the video, Charlie Mayfield discusses how employers could do more to create opportunities for young people. He also outlines the key findings from the new UKCES report ‘Scaling the Youth Employment Challenge’. If you would like any help with your video production or filming interviews please get in touch.
