Promotional video production case study
I was commissioned to film this promotional video by broadcaster Jude Habib (founder and creator of Sound Delivery). Jude had organised a one-day event called the Social Media Exchange and was looking to document the proceedings. Future events could then be promoted using this promotional video production. One of the aims for the day was to help organisations and charities benefit from new opportunities by using video and social media.
The production team and guests
Working with Producer Jo Molloy and Assistant Producer Andrea Leonel I filmed the days events and recorded a series of interviews with speakers and guests invited for the day who included: Giles Duley ( Photographer), Fi Glover (BBC Radio 4), Philippa Law (Guardian Witness), Seaneen Molloy-Vaughan (MIND), Victoria McArthur (BBC Radio 4) and Seaneen Molloy-Vaughan (Digital Officer -Mind).
Filming
To help the day run smoothly I used two cameras. I set up one camera on my Miller tripod with a LED panel light in a quiet room so that I could quickly film interviews with the guest speakers as they became available throughout the day. In between filming the interviews, I captured the cutaway shots of the training events with my second camera mounted on a Manfrotto 561 monopod. Using the monopod mounted camera helped me to move around quickly and quietly without disturbing the different workshop sessions that were taking place.
Editing
As well as editing the Social Media Exchange 2014 highlights video I worked with producer Jo Molloy to edit a series of promotional videos from the filmed interviews to help promote Sound Delivery through their website, twitter feed and social media network. This SMEX14 promotional video was used to promote my client’s annual future events.
